Tucson winter art shows

It's been an amazing fall/winter for art shows in Tucson. The Tucson Pastel Society had 3 juried shows so I have been busy getting work entered and ready to show.

The first show was at St Philips in the Foothills, it was the TPS Holiday Charity Show.

Holiday Show Reception

Here is the second show. I have 5 paintings in this show. I love that it is located in the historic Barrio in downtown Tucson. Unfortunately I was unable to attend the reception.

Escalante Canyon Arts Festival 2015

I love to attend this festival! It's such a welcoming community in Escalante Utah and the scenery is spectacular. This year the weather was wonderful and we reconnected with old friends and made new ones.

This the painting I entered in the competition.
"Escalante Arch" 8 x 10, pastel.
It sold at the silent auction.

Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site Artist in Residence 2015

Guest Hogan

Chuska

This year I was honored to have been chosen as Artist in Residence a Hubbell Trading Post. I was there for 2 weeks living in the guest hogan. I was able to explore the Navajo Nation and paint some of the beautiful areas there. I taught a "drawing a petroglyph" class to a group of Navajo children that were attending a summer camp at the site. It was an amazing experience.

Escalante Plein Air Festival 2014, Escalante Utah

The Escalante Plein Air Festival is held every fall in Escalante Utah in conjunction with Everett Ruess Days. Escalante Utah is a small town of about 800 folks in the heart of Escalante/Grand Staircase Monument. It is stunningly beautiful!

Summer on the San Francisco Peaks

It's been a beautiful summer in Flagstaff, the monsoons rains have been generous. The San Francisco Peaks are green and it has been a wonderful place to paint.

Workshop with Dawn Emerson in Tucson AZ at The Drawing Studio

Three wonderful spring days in Tucson for a pastel workshop with Dawn Emerson. She introduced unusual tips and techniques using pastels, ink, pastel grounds, gouache, and everything else imaginable.
