OPEN STUDIOS 2012 Flagstaff AZ

It was fun getting ready for open studios. I've turned the living room into a gallery. It's been a pleasure meeting and greeting visitors to my gallery/studio space and explaining my work.

Exploring Picture Canyon

This is my friend Jane and I painting at Picture Canyon, Flagstaff AZ. We had to get kind of  lost to find a good place to paint! But it was worth it!

Painting with friends

It's always fun to paint with friends!

This is a plein air paint out with the Northern Arizona Plein Air painters. This is my friend Jane painting in a beautiful field of sunflowers.

Plein air painting with Tanner

It's a special day when you can take your first grandson(his name is Tanner) painting for the first time. I had a wonderful time painting while he napped, then walking and enjoying the sunflowers with him.

Prelude to Open Studios, Flagstaff Arizona

Prelude to Open Studios is a reception held at Coconino Center for the Arts for the artists participating in the upcoming Open Studios.

My pastel is "Flat Creek, Wyoming". It  is a studio painting from some plein air work done outside of Jackson Hole Wyoming a few years back. I love the piece and have it hanging in my home.

New Bling for Jewelry

I just received these tiny glass teardrops beads made in the Czek Republic from Rio Grande(a supplier in Albuquerque that I frequently order from,http://www.riogrande.com/). I  am anxious to try them, they should add a nice little hint of color to my earrings.

This afternoon I am sitting at the Artists Coalition Gallery in Flagstaff.(http://flagstaff-arts.org/) It's a cooperative of artists that show their work in the gallery, support each other, provide educational opportunities, and put on the annual Open Studios tour in the fall that I will be participating in.

Full Moon Painting

I had an interesting painting experience this weekend. I was invited to go moonlight painting with 4  local women artists. We went to Wupatki National Monument at dusk for a picnic then to the Wukoki Pueblo to paint in the full moonlight. It was absolutely magical! Of course we didn't know what our paintings would be like until we got home, and it was a great exercise in values.

Beginnings

I am a pastel plein air landscape artist. I live in Flagstaff Arizona and also spend time in Tucson Arizona, both beautiful places to paint.

This a painting done at the De Grazia Gallery in the Sun in Tucson Arizona.

This a sample of my jewelry done in metals/wire/tagua seeds from the amazon rainforest.

Beginnings

Hart Prairie Flagstaff Arizona
This is the beginning of my journey into my love of the arts. I have worked for the past (many) years as a nurse in hospitals and a surgical practice. I have loved my career but I have also always created art (painting, basket weaving, jewelry making recently). I would love to share some of my process with you.
